thank God for the small things

went to church today and found a particularly meaningful passage in the monthly publication 'Solid Rock', written by Pastor Joseph Prince:

Thank God For The Small Things

The sad thing about us human beings is that we despise small things. We don't thank God for the small things because we want the big things. So we don't appreciate the small portions that are tokens of His grace.

But the way we receive these shafts of light - the little portions of God's grace - into our lives is by giving thanks for them. The way we receive more of God's grace is by acknowledging the grace of God that is already in our lives. That means we acknowledge every little thing we have.

i couldn't agree more with this. and it's really the key to being happy..isn't it? it seems in modern society, and especially in singaporean society, most of us are never happy with what we have. we are always looking to bigger and brighter things without stopping and appreciating what we already have. at first you want a car..then when you finally get that toyota corolla ur not happy with it...u want a skyline. then when u get that skyline ur not satisfied cuz u want something more exotic. like a porsche perhaps. but what happens when you cant get that porsche? u can either be unhappy because u dont have it..or be happy and thankful that u even have a skyline and had a corolla in the first place. unfortunately most of us, inc. myself, wd pick the former. we dun appreciate the small things. some things we take completely for granted. even basics like food, water and shelter shd be treasured and we shd be thankful that we have these necessities because there are millions of people around the world who struggle everyday to even live. and yet most of us don't treausre these things at all. so next time ur pissed off that u cant afford that new watch or holiday...just appreciate the fact that ur even in a position to want these luxuries..and be happy! life will be so much more enjoyable if we focus on the beautiful things we have, rather than what we dont have. Acknowledge and appreciate every little thing you have, and thank God for it. im sayin this as much as i am to myself as anyone else who reads it.

well last night went to stephs bday at pandan valley which was cool. played heaps of games...things got a bit out of hand during truth or dare! wait till i get my hands on da pics...ho ho. it was fun having a few of my older singapore frens all together...steph..lester..adeline..used to hang out so much before but now neva have time now etc. blah. steph got a bit drunk and fell over a couple of times..also told me that she hated the white cap i got her for her bday but retracted that statement today..haha..ben got fucking drunk. stupid fool sent me some fucking weird / abusive smses:


3:49am - go Fuck lester..

4:02am - Fuck... Wah lau... I think my dad just saw me naked. Wtf... Its all yr fault

4:12am - Fuck you! I am gonna sleep now and if i see you tmr i swear i am gonna kill you

and i did absolutely nothing to provoke this! fucking weird monkey he is.

today was gonna play tennis at pandan valley but it was pouring so jus ended up having breakfast at al ameen wit jarrod, poon and ben before heading over to pandan valley to hang out a bit. steph and ad gave me some mice! ahaha. so cool. i love animals and pets! so of course i had to name them steph and adeline. lol. steph (dats da MOUSE steph) is reli mad and active. always digging holes and generally running around like a crazy fool. a bit like da real steph then. ho ho. jus kidding babe! and adeline da rat is a bit like da real ad. more of a chilla...heh. yeah afta dat went to church then came back to clean up club yuey for 2m...wats 2m?? roger sanchez! woohoo. damn i need to sleep nite...peace..and remember..appreciate the small things... - dj yuey
